Oily Skin

It is important to treat Oily Skin gently, and with gentle products.  Products which strip the skin, will dry the skin and so your skin will produce more oil to compensate.  Harsh exfoliators may give the feel good factor for a short while, as in, that scrubbed clean feeling, however, this will just stimulate your skin to produce more oil.  A gentle grain free exfoliator once a week is sufficient.  'I'm not using a moisturiser on my skin, it is oily enough as it is', I hear all too often.  Again if your skin lacks moisture it will produce more oil, so an oil free moisturiser will help to balance oil production in your skin. It is important to always follow your Doctor or Health Care Professionals' recommendations in the first instance.

Nail Varnish Colour Match Service

We realise how difficult it can be to buy nail varnish and cosmetics online, as you can't always be quite sure of the colour, shade or finish of a particular nail varnish.  If you would like a sample of a particular nail varnish, we will paint an artificial nail with 2 coats of polish, to give you a better idea of the colour and enable you to colour match with a particular outfit.  Simply leave your address details and let us know via the Contact Us page which shade/shades you would like a sample of.

Matte Nail Varnish

The new matte nail varnish formulas dry quickly, be careful not to let too much air get into the bottle as the varnish will become thick very quickly.

Hand Cream

We should really apply our hand cream several times a day especially after they have been in water.  However, we rarely do, due to the fact that most of us don't like that sticky greasy feeling you get with some hand creams.  Apply your hand cream just to the back of your hands and then rub the back of your hands together, smoothing the remaining hand cream down your fingers. The back of your hands generally need moisturising more than your palms.

Self Tan

When applying spray self tan to your face, protect your eyebrows by applying some vaseline to them with a cotton bud, the fake tan will then just roll off.

Moisturiser

Always warm your moisturiser between your fingers before applying to your face, this will warm the ingredients in the product, making it easier to smooth evenly over your face and will help the ingredients to sink in more quickly.

Don't apply your moisturiser directly after a hot bath, allow your skin to cool down a little to avoid perspiring your moisturiser away.

Nails

Come on, we've all done it, we've spent ages painting our nails, they are perfect, and yes you guessed it, you smudge or dent one of your nails....... don't despair, carefully pop the tip of your finger into some nail varnish remover creating a small drip of remover, then quickly but gently run your finger over the smudge.  This should at least even out the problem so that you can easily repaint the nail or may in fact correct the problem.

To remove strong coloured nail varnish without getting it all over your cuticles, the secret is to hold a nail varnish remover soaked cotton pad over the nail for a good 30 seconds to allow the remover to penetrate through all of the layers of lacquer.  Then gently but firmly draw the pad down the nail plate, and off with one clean sweep.  Do not scrub back and forth.  Be patient and save time in the long run, with a cleaner professional result.

When painting our nails we all know not to get nail varnish all over our cuticles because it is drying and lets face it quite unsightly.  However, there is another reason why a professional manicurist or nail technician leaves a small space around the edge of the nail plate and the cuticle, which is to help your manicure last longer.  The aim is to create a seal so that water cannot get under the nail varnish, base and top coat;  if you go over onto the cuticle you will create a weakness or an air bubble in the seal, as the varnish lifts away from your skin; which will allow water to sneak under your manicure.  A common mistake, is although, special care is taken with the application of your nail colour, there is a tendency to slosh your base and top coat over your cuticles because it is clear.  Also remember to run your top coat along the free edge of your nail, which will help to seal your nail varnish in and reduce peeling and chipping.
